I think its true,Chavez did have one of the best chins in history. If u watched a lot of his fights u can tell he took most of the punches on his forehead. The ones he didn't block or duck, cause he had very good defense also.I heard he had an abnormally thick skull.

heres my thoeory on why chavez was so great for boxing
you guys have heard of recessive genes right?
as i understand its like when traits from previous fam members appear in a person or thing
Ex.) pea plant that is as big as father plant

I think chavez was very close, as close as you get to being a neanderthal
im not saying hes dumb or somethin
but he was abnormally strong "almost caveman like"
he was able to take alot of punishment and still retain his brute strength
if u look at his face it reminds me of pics of neanderthals
        his very broad forehead

        i know it sounds krazee
        but i just am krazee

I think u r right, i think as myself close to that also. I was born in the same state Julio was born. Im 5'8 and weigh like 225 , very light on my feet. I can jump and touch a ten foot rim which is more than what i can say about guys my height and half my weight. This coming from a guy who only went to the gym for 2 months in his whole life. Im not trying to brag but i was benching 295 3 times in that short period of time, no one in the gym believed me i was only lifting weights for 2 months. Anyways i think your theory might be right or close to being right. Another guy from my state of Sonora,Mex. is Yori Boy and we all know he can take some punishment also.

Irregardless how it sounds . . . that makes a lot of sense. I honestly believe there could be some truth in that.

i hope no one gets the wrong idea
im not sayin that would alone explain his sucess
ofcourse he had an amazin knack for pickin the right punches
and for be able to throw them so flawlessly
i mean who would have thought i guy that took as many clean hits as he did with taylor in their first fight would be able to come back and lay him out the way he did
but i just think that explains his strength, endurance, and appearence
