You guys are sad. Chico Corrales personified everything a warrior is all about. Yet, he gets three measly posts in his tribute thread. Conversely, Floyd Mayweather, a guy that universally HATED [on] at boxingscene gets at least 15 threads a day in his honor by people who deride him for not being, amongst other things, a WARRIOR...

Awwww the perversity of human beings...

          R.I.P CHICO!

              From Shane Mosley:

Diego was a dear friend of mine. He was a great guy, fun to be around, and incredible to watch in the ring. His fighting style was very entertaining and he’ll definitely be greatly missed in the world of boxing. I knew Diego during our amateur days. He came up in Northern California and I’m from Southern California, so I would see him in passing and he always seemed like a good guy. It wasn’t until my wife Jin and his wife Michelle became friends that we started hanging out a lot. Jin and Michelle became the best of friends and with
their bond, Diego and I became great friends as well. We went on trips together and we did a lot of things together. We snowboarded and did karaoke. I remember one trip in particular when we went to Big Bear in California, we went to the local bowling alley and then to the karaoke bar. He and Michelle sang this song, Fire and Desire” by Rick James. I wouldn’t get up there, but they would be up there singing their hearts out and just having a terrific time. That was Diego. He just knew how to have a great time.

He loved snowboarding. I remember he used to say to me, "Whenever the snow comes, I’m there. I’ll come right down and we’ll snowboard for the weekend." Even when I was in Vegas, if it snowed, he would come out to Mt. Charleston and we would go. Sometimes it was just me and Diego. Sometimes he’d bring his son Devon. Anywhere there was excitement, anywhere there was fun, Diego was always ready to go. When we heard the news from Michelle, she called crying. We were driving back from the Oscar and Floyd fight in Las Vegas and we were 10 minutes away from our house in California. We never went home. We turned right back around and got back to Las Vegas sometime after 1 a.m. We went to the site where it happened. So hard. So sad. We were there for everything; to give Michelle any support she needed and do anything we could possibly do. Jin and I now live on the same block as Michelle and it’s been really good to be around her and the family and supporting them in every way possible. People will talk about the negative things about Diego. There is no perfect person in this world. All in all Diego was a wonderful person to the people, to his fans and his family. He loved his kids, he loved being around them and playing with them. Anybody that met him knows he was a warm person and very approachable. He was a humble person and a warrior in the ring. My wife and I miss him every day.
