Die hards dont pay the bills.

This is not to say that every fight needs to be Gatti/Ward. Of course not, but mega fights SHOULD be Dawson/Johnson. Mega fights SHOULD be Pacquiao/Marquez. Mega fights SHOULD be Casamayor/Katsidis. Of course, it is ultimately up to the fighters who make these mega fights to turn them in to mega fights. If all they do is hype and hype and hype and then disappoint in a sport where fighters used to be considered gladiators, well, the casual fan should not be criticized for feeling cheated.
you want to know whats even worse?

the hype that surrounded de la hoya v. mayweather I could have only lived up to the hype with an all out gatti/ward type fight or something as legendary as corrales/castillo I...

they hyped it up so much it was doomed for failure.

and to be honest 8 times out of 10; the fights that get all the hype DONT deliver to the casual fans...

the fights that deliver fly under the radar of the casual fan; like casamayor/katsidis or corrales v. castillo I or marquez/vasquez etc.

usually the fights that get all the attention dont deliver...

either way i do like to watch technical fights also though...thats why im (or at least it seems like i am) one of the very few who enjoyed the first fight.

since im more into boxing than casual fans (by far) i knew EXACTLY what i was getting when i tuned in; a tactical chess match in a boxing ring...

i knew there would be no knockout or brawls or anything like that.

the casual fans dont do their homework and get tricked...and its sad.

if they read half of what we post here they'd know which are brawls and which are tactical fights...

floyd is a tactical fighter...and the older de la hoya gets the more tactical he becomes (truth)...

you will never see floyd in a gatti/ward type of fight...its not his style.

if you want a rough and tough fight you watch jesse feliciano or juan diaz...those guys fight the brawls...not mayweather.

although mayweather has been involved in brawls. chop-chop corley.

yes, it's rare but if he was to fight more people that were actually his size (sharmba, chop, hatton, judah, etc...) then he'd take more chances.
