That's a joke Gomez was mint back in the day but you only had to see him against Johannsen to see he is shot.
I'm not sure coming up in weight will help him as he didn't seem to struggle before and Khan is MASSIVE for a lightweight!!
Only hope he has is if his all out attack and aggression can blow Khan away in the first two or three rounds (that's if he has a punch in the new division) Otherwise he is gonna get very hurt indeed.
It's about time Khan faced a natural Lightweight. How is he supposed to be getting prepared tostart a world title challange without fighting anyone who is naturally the same weight as him!!Last edited by good_looking01; 05-06-2008, 08:49 AM.

Amir Khan To Face Michael Gomez on 6/21
Undefeated lightweight prospect Amir Khan (17-0, 13KOs) will face Michael Gomez (35-8, 24KOs) on June 21 at the NIA, Birmingham. Initially it was thought to be former WBA junior welterweight champ Gavin Rees in either June or September, but now Rees appears to be the choice for Khan later in the year. [details]

Yeah I have been a big defender of Amir in the past, but this is indefensible. I swear April fools has already passed for this year. I'd like to see him lose his ranking for taking this joke of a fight. Sad thing is, people will still turn up in huge numbers.

I think its not that bad of a fight. Gomez can **** and will certainly test Amir's chin a bit. He gave Carl Johanneson a good fight for 6 rounds until he was stopped. I'm expecting Khan to win in under 5 rounds.
