Chagaev has a chronic viral infection, so he should retire and let Valuev fight for the vacant belt.

I believe him - I've known people with nasty viral illnesses such as shingles and hepatitus C.

But these delays are not good for boxing, and he'll likely never be 100% again anyway.

Man, what a loser. Chagaev is milking the title reign just like Maskaev did because he knows its over in his next fight. I wish Wlad would take that trinket from Valuev now and call it done. Chagaev does'nt belong at the top anyways. He would get starched by Wladimir. Looks like Vitali can settle for the WBC belt alone because they will never give him a WBA title shot in fear of losing it. I dont hear any of the other former Soviets calling out Wladimir or Vitali.
