Sure there is significance.

It's the equivelant to Roy Jones moving up and beating Ruiz for the WBA heavyweight title.

Except Floyd started at 130 and would be fighting at 160 and Jones started at 154 and fought at 200. There's a slight difference.

If floyd fought felix strum at middleweight i think that would be a joke.

it would be an easy route (in my opinion instead of fighting someone like kelly pavlik) to just build up his resume but to me a win over felix strum (even at middleweight) wouldnt be all that impressive...

Everyone (myself included) want to see Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight the BEST competition...not just find easy ways to build up his resume.

We all know felix strum would have little chance against floyd...he would be competitive sure; but floyd would easily win by UD...no doubt in my mind.

i mean what has strum done that it even notable (CONSIDERING he'd be fighting the p4p best in the world) other than lose to oscar de la hoya.

The ONLY thing that has ever stuck out about strum is he made oscar de la hoya look bad because oscar overlooked him in a tune-up fight years ago.

if cotto loses either wait for the winner of the rematch or fight margarito...

or while cotto and margarito have a rematch (and possibly a 3rd fight) fight manny pacquiao at a catch weight or some legitimate opponent.

i dont believe floyd should try to make it up to middleweight against a mediocore opponent who holds a title (that doesnt mean much since pavlik is the top dog at middleweight and arthur abraham is even ahead of strum in my opinion) just to say he did it.

floyd has to fight the best to be the best.

1. Cant Fight Nobody who is his same size or smaller then him or it isnt a fair fight...
(Have to fight Bigger Opponents for the fight to be Fair...)
2. No tune up's fights
3. Floyd can not fight in no other division but Welther Weight division..Even if the division is higher than WW division, And in that case the fighter most be ranked # 1 in thier division no matter if it's SuperMiddle weight division for it to be a fair fight
4. Gotta focus only on Boxing
5. Cant fight for Money, He has to fight to proved what he already is.. and that is Number #1
6. Anybody he fights and beats is a bum until somebody else beats them, then that's that Fighter career Achievement.
7. You only can Compare Floyd to All Time Greats or it dont Count
8. Floyd whole resume doesnt Count... Just only 2 years of his resume

I honestly think if Cotto Loses to Margarito....

The Floyd vs. Cotto Fight might not happen...
For a whole lot of reasons,,,,, but ultimately it would be a HUGE kick in the face of boxing....

In which, first a rematch would be in order for COTTO VS. MARGARITO.... for sometime in December or early next year......
and if Cotto Wins..

Cotto would probably have to fight Margarito one more time to break the tie and to build his hype back up again after losing to a 5 lost Margarito.

and by that time it would be late into 2009....



So in the mean time I think the best fight that would be available for Floyd
would be Middle Weight Champion Flex Sturm...

It would be Floyd's 6Th weight class..and going for his 7th World Title at the middleweight division...
and I think if he was to win that Fight....That would solidify his legacy better any fight that would be available within reason....
