Not every fighter who gets on TV is a millionaire. The only national exposure Paris has received is ESPN2. It's hard to make a lot of money fighting on the undercard of a FNF show.

I agree that in areas of abject poverty, jealousy follows success like a magnet. I cannot expound on how that pertains to Paris' life because I don't know how he is outside of the ring.

i have seen him fight in person twice and several more times on FOXsports, living in Michigan he is one prospect i have been able to get a good look at.

he carries himself in a very arrogant manner, not to say he is a bad person, but he struts around, showboats in the ring and just seems fairly immature in general.... it seems he has come around and matured a little bit in the past year but not enough that i think he is ready to test his skills against the top guys in the division.

i would hope that another setback like this will humble him and focus him more on the goal at hand, he certainly has potential, but not any more than Andy Lee and we all was what a lack of focus and discipline got for him.

someone above wondered what the hell is wrong with these guys not moving out of the ******..... well the reality is that Paris has not made any real money in the fight game... he has missed a lot of time due to being shot and has fought against sub par competition on the undercards of other small time fights. likely he hasnt made any more money the past three years than he would have working full time at Sam's Club or Costco.

he is only 20 years old, its not as if he's been wasting away in a crackhouse for 5 years. im sure if he were able to get out he would have done it already. however, it wouldnt surprise me if he took his last few checks and bought a benz in lieu of saving up for a better life.

one thing i know for sure is that he needs a new manager, his current guy is hell bent on getting Paris into big money fights that he is not ready for. After his last fight his manager said he is looking for a title shot by this time next year.....lol.. Paris needs 7-8 more fights against consistently better comp before he bothers having any fisticuffs with the top-10 at his weight.

In the wake of the last summer’s deaths of two former Kronk boxing champions, The Detroit News attempted to find out what happened to each of the 96 fighters and promoter/managers who built Kronk into an international powerhouse in the 1970s ‘80s and ‘90s.

Man that sucks for Vernon. He's a good prospect that seems he can't get his career going without some kind of violence happening. Hopefully it gets through this and becomes a successful boxer.
