I can understand what you're saying, but what is Ricky supposed to say? "I'm fighting an easy fight against Lazcano, as a tuneup. I'm almost certainly going to win and frankly paying for it is a waste of time." He is talking bull****, but every boxer does it, it's their job!

I agree with you more on the WW/ JWW question. Ricky can't go on forever taking fights at WW while claiming to be the JWW champion, however since the only one really on the horizon is a megafight with Floyd Mayweather, the p4p #1 and the only man ever to beat him, I think we should be prepared to forgive him. I'd take the fight if I could, and so would most of us here.

As for Witter, I personally think that Witter has been talking so long and loud about Ricky that people have started to believe him. Until recently, Hatton was almost universally seen as a p4p boxer, while Witter has done what exactly? Sure he's the WBC champ, but since when did alphabets count for anything? I wouldn't mind seeing Hatton - Witter, but I'd say Malignaggi is a more interesting opponent, it would definitely sell more in both the UK and US.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I wouldn't like to see Hatton v Witter, but based on what they've done as boxers, I'd say Ricky is in the driving seat and has every right to call the shots.

these days his atitude gets up my nose at first it was fine but when he is constantly shoving/promoting his Mr Nice Guy image down your throat & pulling this kinda of stuff i gets on my nerves ive lost a lot of respect for him regarding the Witter situation

its not upto us to understand the pollotics of the sport all im concered about is watching entertaining fights and u as a fan should be the same ,he should fight Witter no excuses do u think Floyd was bothered how much Hatton was getting paid ,NO its just a smoke screen to duck him

Witter himself honestly believes that even if he had'nt shouted from the roof tops that Ricky still would'nt have fought him and i believe that to be the truth

Actually, you make some good points. The whys and wherefores of why boxers do and say the things they do should absolutely not be our concern. Problem is that they so rarely do what the fans want that those whys and wherefores are often all we have left. Annoying.

Out of interest, what to you makes Witter such a compelling opponent? I am firmly in two minds! I can see that on paper he could give Hatton a good fight, but to me it also looks as though it really is all on paper, I see little solid evidence from Witter's career that he could realistically expect to beat Hatton. What do you think? Is Witter really the #2 JWW?

i think stylistically Witter would give Hatton plenty of trouble as Hatton has struggled with Southpaws from when he was an amateur apprently & Witter is one of the most awkward Southpaws active today on top of that he can punch and he can take a good shot too

Hatton was out on his feet against Collazo a non punching Southpaw & he was Koed by Floyd who is'nt a huge puncher im not saying he is chinny but i think Hatton struggles with good counter punchers & if u saw Witter last fight u will know the guy can take u out with counter punches

lets not forget Collazo was made to look garbage in his next fight against Sugar Shane
