Big fight for us this Wednesday...

If anyone is interested, it is on ESPN2, live from Boston (The Roxy)

“Machine Gun” Oliver has such a catchy ring alias, that many boxing fans might not know his given name is Mike. Whether it is his local mailman or one of his fans from *******.com, Oliver says he enjoys it when people greet him as “Machine Gun”.

One man, who Oliver wants to get on a FIRST name basis with, however, is IBF super bantamweight champion Steve Molitor. Oliver plans to state his case for a shot at Molitor on the next edition of ESPN’s “Wednesday Night Fights”.

Huh, I didn't know Oliver's nickname was Machine Gun...

I guess I got it confused because that is Mike Jones's nickname too.

I watched Oliver once before... he was completely outclassing someone or other on ESPN a while back. He looks like a really good fighter from what I saw.

Yea, everybody in Hartford calls him Mike-Mike since he was a kid but his ring name is MACHINE GUN. I assume the fight you saw on ESPN was him against Cruz Carvajal.

              It was Cruz Carbajal!

I couldn't figure out, for the life of me, why his name rang a bell when he fought Thomas Mashaba a few weeks ago.

That's it! I saw him get outclassed by Oliver.

Yeah, your boy Oliver is going to be damn good Scully. Looks like you know how to pick 'em.

By the way, I am totally in agreement with you about Larry Merchant not knowing his **** now that I heard you say that. I am half watching/half listening to the rematch between Mayorga and Forrest, and Larry is swearing up and down that clinical boxing skills just won't work against a crazy brawler like Mayorga, while Foreman is telling him that it is quite the opposite, that those are the best time to use them.

I think De La Hoya-Mayorga pretty much answered who was right in that argument.
