    Good Call! :)

Well, I am wrong about picks etc etc as much as I am right but..when Andre Dirrel BOXED AND RAN his way to that decision over Stevens everybody ws very down on him, never wanted to see him again, etc...but I knew both of those guys from when they were amateurs and knew that Direll is MUCH better and more explosive than he showed. I said that when Andre got a chance with someone else, with another solid fighter, that he would show much better offense. To me his offense has always been impressive and even against Curtis he showed flashes of it but it was always overshadowed and sandwiched by too much movement. The story, in my mind, was that when Curtis was winning the 2002 USA Championships in devastating fashion at 178 pounds Direll was in the same tournament as a much smaller man (it may have even been as low as 125) so basically when Curtis was tearing things up with big power as a light heavy Andre was still boxing in the 125-139 pound range. So he went into that fight with a lot of respect and caution. He got it out of the way, and now he moves on. I knew he would show MUCH more and he did. I am not saying he will dethrone Calzaghe or anything, just saying that I knew that his performance against Curtis was an abberation as much as anything.

yes boxing pundits and many fans were turned off by his auh...causious style
against stevens. then him spouting that he dont care about what the fans
think about his style. did you hear the fans last night start to boo when dirrell looked to be taking round off? and then he hopped right to it.\
he won back over his critics and fans. wow did he look good!

Dirrel definitely looked good last night, he did do some things that reminded me of a younger Jones, I was really surprised he managed to handle Hanshaw the way he did but he did get caught in the first round.

The RJ comparison is very good, yes... I assume from watching him that RJ influenced his style

I also think Dirrel put himself right into the mix with guys like Allan Green, Pascal, etc etc etc. With his style pedirgree, size, he's a handful for almost anyone -win, lose or draw- at 168

I think he is a very good fighter. People who have watched them in the gym say Andre is better than Anthony.

What I felt hurt him was how he wasn't a telegenic fighter and stunk out the joint on his first HBO appearance. That kind of style doesn't make programming executives want to see you again.

He was impressive in his tko victory over Hanshaw.I expected him to beat Hanshaw but I never would have thought he would stop Hanshaw.A fight with Pascal would be a good move for Dirrell but I think he should stay far away from Allan Green who I think would knock Dirrell out.
