    Kessler: Titlefight in June!

It looks as if Mikkel Kessler is back in the ring on June 21. The fight will be for a world title.

6 months after the Calzaghe fight Kessler intensifies his training following 2 months of extensive rehab of his surgically repaired right hand. Kessler will start working the heavybag next week before sparring.

"My hand is feeling good again. Unfortunately it wasn't in Cardiff, and the result was thereafter. But thats behind me now and a want another title and I'm extremely motivated and certain that the title will be back on danish hands soon." Kessler said to the Palles website.

It's not yet clear who Kessler's to fight. It looks as if WBA will not sanction Anthony Mundines fight with Sam Soliman, so it might be for the vacant WBA title.

Alternatively there's a possible fight with Carl Froch for the WBC title. It looks as if Froch cannot find an opponent for a sceduled eliminator may 10 in Nottingham.

It seems certain that the fight will go on in Europe: "As before my ambition is a championshipfight in America, but the foundation has to be in order and that will happen the same second as I am champ again. I'm full of desire to get back in the ring and I can guarantee that my defeat at the hands of Calzaghe will not affect my performance at all. With some luck I'm champ again before midsummers eve" Kessler concludes.

The fact that he is fighting Taylor , Jones, Pavlik or Miranda is a shame.

Taylor-has yet to prove himself at SMW, loser of his last two fights.
Jones-is a LHW without a meaningful win in 4 and a half years.
Pavlik is a MW who hasn't defended his first title yet.
Miranda has yet to prove himself at SMW and failed at his only two title attemps at MW.

June 21 is shaping up to be one of those great boxing Saturdays we have once every few months.

That fight will have to wait at least a year IMO.

If the fight is for the WBA title, which will be stripped from or vacated by Mundine, the likely opponent will be either Danilo Haussler (easy win for Kess.) or Dimitri Sartison who I don't know.

If it's for the WBC then we have Kessler vs. Froch coming up.

Calzaghe hasn't vacated any titles yet, and I doubt Kessler wants anything more to do with him. It will either be for the "normal" WBA belt or the IBF, Calzaghe holds the rest.

Calzaghe is to vacate the titles. He might hold on to the WBO-strap if his last fight is with Pavlik instead of RJJ.
