Floyd Sr. Thinks Oscar Can Beat Trinidad

According to Oscar De La Hoya, his trainer, Floyd Mayweather Sr, told him that regardless of the weight difference, he would win the rematch with Felix Trinidad. Following his loss to Trinidad in 1999, De La Hoya was trying to land a rematch. A lot of ringside observers felt De La Hoya should have been awarded the decision and the Golden Boy was very bitter over the loss. He tells Kieran Mulvaney that he let go of his pursuit for a Trinidad rematch a long time ago. [details]

yeah...... the fact that he outboxed him 10 years ago when felix was in his prime would've been a great tipoff.

please don't tell me tito-oscar will be his farewell fight after mr. flashy.

Oscar will probably retire in May of 2009 and it could be against Trinidad.

          PBF (September 20)
Cotto or Margarito ( Late December Christmas time)
          Trinidad on (May 2nd)

okay i'm too drunk to *****.

tito-oscar is okay i guess. should have happened at 154 though after the vargas win and before the hopkins loss.

i'm hoping he ko's pbf and cotto and then retire. don't need another loss for tito. he's ruining his legacy.

Oscar could be a prime trinidad...

he can beat a trinidad past his prime (especially considering de la hoya has tranisitioned pretty nicely from his prime while trinidad has slid a lot more).

but i dont want this to be the farewell fight (should he lose to floyd).

if he wins against floyd we knows he's fighting cotto or margarito (mattering on who wins in july).

but if he loses i think thats kind of a unfair way to go into retirement; at least for all his fans.

no one wants to see de la hoya retire against someone like trinidad (if this 7 years ago; no problem; but its been too long) at some ridiculously high catchweight of 165 and see de la hoya win an uninspried decision.

I think oscar will fight cotto even if he loses to floyd. Floyd sure as hell aint gonna fight cotto, so who does that leave for cotto? Cotto will have beaten every top welter and de la hoya is the only big name left. Both fighters will make a lot of money and it will be a great fight.

Oscar beat a prime Trini what makes you think he won't beat a shot out of a cannon one.
