I've always liked Andre Dirrell. He fought that way as an amateur too. It pissed me off when everyone wrote him off after a win over Curtis Stevens. I'm glad he did what he did tonight. I'm so happy. That was a great showing,he looked great,he maybe put on a better show then Jones did against Hanshaw,he went from southpaw and orthadox nicely, his speed was great, and the combos where great,he looked very good, and maybe has restored himself after that boring fight with Stevans,he ****ed Hanshaw upComment

i'll admit that he did himself a big favor in his performance tonight, i, like the rest of the world, was ready to write him off for his fight against stevens.
had he fought stevens the same way, he would have a bigger following and a bigger demand. sad to say, that the stevens fight will always haunt him, but all he has to do is continue to fight the way he fought hanshaw, without all the showboating.
i am very impressed with his hand speed, actually his overall speed, it is very impressive and very hard to deal with for other fighters.
also i respect his assessment of himself pertaining his fight with stevens, he gave a honest answer and a real answer. saying that he fought like an amateur because he wasn't properly prepared to handle a smaller opponent and that he had to revert back to what he knows on how to deal with that, although it was a terrible performance, his reasoning behind that fight is acceptable, i thought that it was very honest and truthful and it shows humility, which i respect greatly in a person, especially a fighter...........Comment

But he fought the same way he fought against Stevens. He always uses his range and hand speed. He's constantly trying to set traps. Stevens didn't fall for many and the few times Dirrell caught him Stevens took the punches well or got inside too quick for Dirrell to follow up. Do you not take that into account when evaluating a performance?i'll admit that he did himself a big favor in his performance tonight, i, like the rest of the world, was ready to write him off for his fight against stevens.

he showed to me a more willingness to trade, i know he was using the same stuff that he did against stevens but it served him better this time around and he showed a little more growth, definitely more fan friendly this match up. i by no means am jumping on his bandwagon, i thought that it was a better outing, nothing more. i did respect his self assessment though, he was honest about his performance, it shows maturity. But he fought the same way he fought against Stevens. and i know what you mean about those traps, i was saying to my friends that sometimes direll's opponents might find openings moving back and letting direll lead a bit, make the defensive minded open up by having him come forward, but no one does. i'm not sure it would be the best route in fighting direll, but moving back when you're a defensive fighter is a way of controlling your opponent, you're having him move to a place that you want him to be, most of the time it's trying to get them to rust in and make a big mistake, and if possible, catch them in the process, or at least make them pay. thats the defensive fighters game. so.......yeah, defensive fighting you're setting traps, it's a great sport like that. as for opponents not falling for the traps..... adaptation is the only way then, be it whatever from there on out, i guess find a way, look for openings, faults, etc, improvise.........
life's improvisation..............Comment
