The actual "Confrontation"

Wladimir Klitshcko was in London's Excel Arena for a 'Fight For Peace' press conference and Haye just happened to be in the same place for the SENI '08 international combat sports show.

Taking the opportunity to introduce himself to the generally recognised number one in the heavyweight division, the WBC/WBA/WBO cruiserweight king challenged the Ukrainian-born fighter in person.

With echoes of Apollo Creed's challenge of Ivan Drago in Rocky IV, Haye got up-close and personal with the giant from the East letting him know that he was in no doubt that he could beat him.


Klitschko had a far more genial manner than Dolph Lundren's legendary character, but refused to guarantee Haye a shot at his crown.

Klitschko: "Ah, Mr Haye.....in person. How are you doing this morning?"

Haye: "I'm fine. You knock those two bums in the head and we can get it on. In Vegas everybody wants me and you. Fight the main man, the Hayemaker. The Hayemaker's coming for you."

Klitshcko: "What is your weight?"

Haye: "I'm 220 pounds"

Klitshcko: "Is that enough for you?"

Haye: "I could beat you at 200lbs."

Klitschko: "Talk is cheap. You have to deliver in the ring. Get in the ring and do your job. Now in the heavyweight division you're no one."

Haye: "I'm the undisputed champion, the last time an undisputed champion came up to heavyweight was Evander Holyfield and he won the undisputed world title. Don't hide, come and fight. Don't run. There's no need to hide behind these bums. Fight the main man and that's me. Bring the fight."

Klitschko: "You have to prove yourself. Get in line."

Haye: "When your mandatories are out the way, are you going to fight me then? You beat your mandatories, I'll beat two top ten fighters are you going to fight me then. Next year, undisputed heavyweight vs undisputed cruiserweight."

Klitshcko: "Behave yourself."

Haye: "Don't run."
