if you offer a fighter a career high payday they should turn it down on the possibility that it could be worth more in the future?? is that what you are trying to say?? think about that for a second and apply a little plain and basic common sense and maybe you will see how ****** you sound.
Look he made the same money fighting Baldimor a much lesser threat and he took the legit title at Welter Weight something that not only says Floyd is out for Money, but that it is legacy, Baldimor was known as the legit Champ!
So to say Floyd isnt about legacy is just nuts, sure he has put this fight on the back burner, but like I said he has done Tony a favor, I know Tony will mop the canvas with Cotto, and once that fight is finished, Tony would have better established himself in the sport meaning that Both Tony and Floyd will make much more money now than they would have prior to Floyd fighting Baldimor, and to aruge that isnt true is crazy.Comment

hey man the thread is about "MONEY" not Mayweather.....Oh...Floyd fans have to be the first and only fans in the history of the sport to make excuses for certain fights not happening, due to monetary reasons. I've heard of fighters backing out of fights due to money issues, but i have never heard of fans using and defending this excuse up until now. You guys really have to stop!

if he is about legacy why didnt he fight baldomir instead of judah first?? also he made the same money a year later. what is the problem with 2 $8 million paydays? why do you choose to defend a coward. the real boxing fans have lost any respect they had for you.Look he made the same money fighting Baldimor a much lesser threat and he took the legit title at Welter Weight something that not only says Floyd is out for Money, but that it is legacy, Baldimor was known as the legit Champ!

Look at poor Rafa Marquez and Izzy Vazquez, giving us fans true fights, going toe-to-toe like the True Mexican Warriors that they are pleasing us boxing fans with three incredible fights, and they get paid peanuts compared to a guys who don't deserve half of the money they get paid to put on a pony and dog show like the Mayweather - DeLaHoya fight. Incredible.Comment

He'll either retire, or go back to wrestling. I seriously doubt he gets in the ring with either fighter. Im almost 100% certain he doesnt. Reason being? When Arum made Floyd the $8mil offer to fight Margarito, Floyd had yet to secure an opponent for his ppv date. He then went desperately scrambling for an opponent, when all along, Margarito was the only one willing to step in the ring with him. Not to mention, Margo was the #1 ranked WW at the time. Floyd went looking for fights with Shane (even though Shane had already stated that he will be taking the rest of the year off). He even went as low as to try to secure a fight with Cory Spinks! (Thank god that idea got shut down). Floyd ONLY choices were Margarito, or Baldomir (given Baldo beat Gatti). Floyd crossed his fingers, and prayed to the gods in hope of a Baldomir win. So my question is, if all along he had the option of fighting the #1 ranked WW for a career high payday, why wait, gamble, and risk losing out, in hopes that Baldomir beats Gatti? What would Floyd have done if Gatti won? There is no way on earth Gatti's people or HBO would've let that happen again, so what would Floyd have done? Would he just have let his ppv date go, just so he didnt have to face Margarito? Its definitely something to think about. You are correct, However as a fan you know that this **** happens, what are we going to do? seriously bitching isnt putting these fights together, you know what makes fights happen?
exactly what is taking place right now, the two best Welter Weights unifying the titles, while the #1 welter weight finishes his business with DLH, and if Floyd gets by Oscar the public will demand him to face the winner of Cotto Margarito, there will then be too much money at stake for Floyd to turn down such a fight.Comment

EXACTLEY...and Im not saying fighters should not get paid, but 20-30 million and then turn down the DESERVING guys cause you CLAIM they wont produce that kind of money.......Look at poor Rafa Marquez and Izzy Vazquez, giving us fans true fights, going toe-to-toe like the True Mexican Warriors that they are pleasing us boxing fans with three incredible fights, and they get paid peanuts compared to a guys who don't deserve half of the money they get paid to put on a pony and dog show like the Mayweather - DeLaHoya fight. Incredible.
why do SOME fans defend this

That is a good question, but I cant speak for Floyd back then, what I can tell you is what is happening now, and what is happening now is that both Margarito and Cotto are in a position to get that fight with Mayweather, the winner of that fight will emerge trust that, Now if Floyd doesnt fight the winner of that fight he pretty much losses the status he has and like I said this sport can be ice ****ing cold on a fighter if he retires with out fighting the best, Floyd knows this which is why I assume it will happen.Comment
