LOL!!!! The HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION in the US is DONE!!!! GONE!!!

WE do NOT, officially, DO NOT have a SUPERHEAVYWEIGHT in the OLYMPICS. NONE. Not a single one!!!

    ---

    DAN RAFAEL:
The notion of the American heavyweight contender has become a joke in recent years. Part of the reason is because of how poor the amateur system in this country has become at producing big men. It took another massive hit, maybe even hitting rock bottom, on Tuesday night when the United States officially failed to qualify a super heavyweight for this summer's Beijing Olympic Games. At the Americas Qualifier in Guatemala City, Guatemala, the final chance for the U.S. to qualify boxers for the Olympics, super heavyweight Michael Hunter of Las Vegas lost 10-3 in the semifinals to Venezuela's Jose Payares and was eliminated. Once again, the U.S. will take an incomplete squad of nine boxers to China, but it is almost unfathomable that we will not have a super heavyweight in the tournament.

No suprise the heavyweight division is going to ****s.
Boxing is a tough sport, and even talented, quality fighters may not be able to make any dent in the division.

With sports like basketball, and mostly football, who can expect those physically gifted, dedicated athelete to give his time and effort into boxing??

Hunter made it to the finals at the first AIBA American qualifier but Super Heavyweight was the only division not giving out automatic bids for the finalist, just the gold medalist. And in Guatemala he SHOULD'VE passed by with no problem. hell that Canadien he fought in the first round should've been his hardest competition there. I was skeptical after he only won 4:3. But the kid has speed and a pro style, he will make a good pro. But he had a decent shot at medaling, guess not.

when you think about floyd and oscar making 20 mill, and you think about tyson making that **** in the 80's there's no telling what a great american heavyweight could make if there was one.
