Out of interest, how prevalent do you think fixing is in top-class boxing. I actually think its pretty common. Perhaps not out and out fixes absolutely no matter what the fight looks like, but I think there is very often a fighter who is "supposed" to win and gets the benefit of the doubt from the judges if possible. In terms of damage to boxing's credibility I think Chavez' draw with Whitaker, DLH's win over Whitaker, Holyfield's draw with Lewis in the first fight, Trinidad's win over DLH, Mosley's win in the second fight with DLH and DLH's win over Sturm hurt boxing the most. Those were six of the 10 or 12 biggest fights of the last 15 years and they had questionable decisions. When people say "all boxing matches seem like they're fixed" this is what they are referring to. Most of us in here watch enough boxing to know that this isn't close to being true, but those decisions hurt the sport.
The best example I've seen recently is Hatton v Collazo, I was amazed that hatton got the verdict after getting beat up so badly, even if he did probably do enough. To me Hatton's whole career in the US was based around his five fight contract with HBO, building towards a big fight with Mayweather at the end. Losing to Collazo definitely would have put paid that, and I think this fact, shall we say, "helped" the judges to make their decision.
What do you think about this and fixing in general?

Hatton is a popular dude, and we all know how we get carried away when the crowd cheers for a guy. We have 5 senses, and what you hear in a fight will to a certain degree affect your judgement of what happens.
Like Hatton vs Collazo. And DLH-Whitaker. And DLH-Mosley.
I haven't seen Hatton- Collazo, so I won't comment on that, but DLH was the popular one against both Whitaker and Mosley.
In Mosley, the judges got it right. Pitty pat slaps is not effective.
Is it possible that some fights are corrupt to a degree? Sure.
Totally corrupt? Don't think so.Comment

Juan Coggi-Eder Gonzalez I is worse than all of these.
This wasn't a case where the judges ******, this is a case where Gonzalez really won by stoppage or DQ like 3 times during the fight but Coggi was allowed to fight on, and then win.
Among decisions, Alfredo Escalera-Tyrone Everett was disgraceful. Usually a fighter gets robbed in the other guy's hometown, not his own.Comment

I always bring this in up in these types of threads.
O'Neil Bell vs. Dale Brown! Dale won the fight CLEARLY and they robbed him and gave the decision to Bell! This fight makes my blood boil to this day. The whole ESPN commentating team was in shock and disgust!
There have been many robberies in boxing. It's part of the game unfortunately.Comment
Im watching that fight right now are you spying on me lol
