Joel Julio-Ishe Smith: Two Careers At Stake

By Jake Donovan - Like the rest of the sport, ESPN2 saw a significant drop in quality and end result from March to April, despite kicking off its Wednesday Night Fights season earlier this month. The majority of the cards featured bouts that played out exactly as suggested on paper. Known commodities and undefeated prospects were matched either against no-hopers, fighters at least one division above their optimal weight class, or on some occasions, a combination of both. All credit to Quintana for taking Julio's head - but I remember that day. It was like 120 degrees and one has to assume that may have been a factor in the fight. Julio wilted and Quintana elevated. It's exciting that Quintana got a chance to show what he was made of because it helped create some of the opportunities he has now - but Julio should not be getting slept on the way he has been. That was a twist of fate and this game isn't over.

Joel Julio has more to lose if he loses to ishe smith, so he better bring his A-game.

This fight is in my hometown and I am there ringside tommorow. I was at the weigh-in earlier today. Ishe looks to be in tremedious shape but I still have Julio winning IMO. Roger Mayweather, and Ray Leonard were there. I cant wait, and I am sure we will see fireworks tommorow.

I'm willing to bet that Smith doesn't get KO'd.

HaHA.. No thanks. It isn't likely he gets knocked out.
