"He's Ruining His Legacy By Fighting On Too Long!"

This is nonsense. You don't ruin your legacy or even seriously damage it by fighting on too long. You just become like most fighters.

What about Roy Jones? If he never got KOed he would have been thought of as a fighter with absolutely no flaws next to Ray Robinson and a handfull of other fighters.

Slight, but not much at all. He was still the undisputed CW champ and 4 time HW titleholder.

It's a sad boxing tradition to fight on too long until you suck.

Lots of fighters. I always hear this "he's ruining his legacy by fighting too long".

                Like these guys did?

                Henry Armstrong
                Ray Robinson
                Muhammad Ali
                Juilo Cesar Chavez
                Willie Pep
                Sam Langford
                Ezzard Charles
                Roberto Duran
                Archie Moore
                Sugar Ray Leonard
                Alexis Arguello
                Joe Louis

All it does it ruin these fans' last memories of them.

Their legacies and standings as ATGs were already established, no matter how overdue their retirements were when they finally happened.

Would Rocky Marciano be half as great if he had just 1 more fight, but lost it?

Legacies can only really be ruined if it was questionable in the first place, but an undefeated record is something every man who holds should be proud of, and if an undefeated fighter plans 1 more fight and loses it, it damages his legacy beyond repair.

you could also say... he quit before he had the chance to lose.
