He was willing to go to the States and always said it openly. What are you on about? He said the same thing about Hopkins. "I will fight him in his own back garden". That was YEARS ago.

You go to the best not the other way around, Hatton was a huge draw in Britain but chased Mayweather down in the U.S coz thats how it works. If JC was serious about a Jones fight he would have gone to the States looking for him.....Have i made that simple enough for you?
      Well said.

Sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy with some of the **** I read on here.

Did Joe ever chase RJJ as actively as Roy is doing the chasing no? **** no.

Yet Roy fought them anyway and left Calzaghe out in the cold. It couldn't have been a monetary issue, as Roy took fights for less than the offer that was made to fight Joe. I'm not trying to say Roy was scared of Joe, but he most certainly didn't want to fight him. What we also have to remember is that this was back when Joe had the power and speed to expose Roy's fragile beard. I can understand why Roy didn't take the fight, and I am not accusing him of dodging Joe, it was a business decision first and foremost. What I do take exception to, however, is Roy telling only half truths. Roy wouldn't fight Joe because there was a very real chance he could lose (Prime for prime its a 50-50 pickem fight) against an unknown opponent in his own backyard.
I think your post is insane.

Roy was willing to fight Bernard Hopkins and james Toney...and then move up to fight a heavyweight (even a second-tier heavyweight), but somehow he was reluctant to fight Calzaghe?? The truth is that Cal wasn't willing to leave Europe.

I don't even remember Calzaghe being mentioned much... the name that was thrown around much more was Michalezewski (sp?).

And prime4prime, it would NOT have been a 50-50 fight. No way.

Joe came here and saw that he really don't want fights with these guys. Pav and Roy would KO Joe. I would have done the same.

This argument is as old as day.

Like i said in previous threads on this subject of this fight happening back in the day:

Joe had to be the one to compromise!

Being Frank Warren's prize fighter means that would've made that near impossible.
