Jones is right in everything he says (perhaps apart from being the best fight out there).
But on the same lines, Calzaghe is right in saying that Jones shouldnt be walking around suggesting that this fight is signed and sealed when it is anything but. -
I heard Joe and Roy were friendly after the Hopkins fight. Roy took pictures with Joe's children. Thats why its weird that suddenly theres tension. I think Joe just wants to temporarily leave the boxing scene. Thats the impression I get anyway.Comment

lol i hate it when pound for pound fighters dont chase anyone man i would if i was a p4p champ joe would of been a great win for jones and possibly the best name on his resume at the time next to james toney.
But he is wrong hes to old and to shot to deal with joe the fact he hates southpaws just makes things worse.Comment

LOL! I like how you put "Originally Posted by Roy Jones Jr." as though he's a member of the board.

I'm surprised that Joe is asking for time away from the sport. He hasn't been in the limelight that long - two years? I understand that he is 36 and has been fighting his whole life. But he has been fighting his whole life just to get to this point! Strike while the iron is hot.
In Mayweather's case, I can understand the time away. He has made ridiculous amounts of money. And is clearly making dough outside of the ring.
I can understand if Hatton wanted a break because he made good money in his career....much more than Cal.Comment

Except the fight was to be made in America, so your bull**** excuse doesn't wash. Let's look at the truth here. Joe wasn't a big name I admit, but how many of RJJ's opponents were? Yet Roy fought them anyway and left Calzaghe out in the cold. It couldn't have been a monetary issue, as Roy took fights for less than the offer that was made to fight Joe. I'm not trying to say Roy was scared of Joe, but he most certainly didn't want to fight him. What we also have to remember is that this was back when Joe had the power and speed to expose Roy's fragile beard. I can understand why Roy didn't take the fight, and I am not accusing him of dodging Joe, it was a business decision first and foremost. What I do take exception to, however, is Roy telling only half truths. Roy wouldn't fight Joe because there was a very real chance he could lose (Prime for prime its a 50-50 pickem fight) against an unknown opponent in his own backyard.Comment
