I remember this. But having read his book, Tapia has been through that through out his life. The guy is lucky to be alive.
His cousin or i think it was his uncle(but he calls him his brother) was a drug user that later died. Tapia was around all that **** young as a kid. And his grandpa would never allow him to cry and if he did, he'd run him in the wall.
Funny story is says about him and his grandpa after him and his grandpa were coming home from one of Tapia boxing tournament. There driving in grandpas old truck down the road, then somone cuts them off to pass them. Tapias grandpa gets mad and catchs up to the guys that cut him off and runs them off the road. He stops and tells Tapia, "go show them not to mess with your grandpa" and Tapia says, "ok, grandpa" then Tapia gets out, goes to the drivers side of the car that cut them off who is now on the side of the road and Tapia drags him out of the car and starts beating him up badly, the passenger comes up to see in horrar and drops to his knees and starts praying and Tapia leaves him alone. And when he went back to his grandpas truck his grandpa tells Tapia, "you've done good Johnny" and they don't say one more word on the way home.
