Yea but in the 1800's a fight wasnt over unless a guy was dead, so of coarse there will be more deaths.

And the poor fellas that died recently died because of the big gloves that allowed them to take sustained beatings

They need to do research to see which size gloves are actually safer for the fighters in the long run. If a fighter can get knocked out quick but not suffer permanent head injury then that's the way to go, its also better for the sport. I've heard arguments on both sides so I actually don't know who to believe. The safety of the fighter should come first though.

And bigger gloves suck out the most important part of boxing, the drama. Its hard to hurt a guy with massive 10 ounce gloves on a junior welterweight. Look at Hatton, the gloves nearly reach his elbows!!!!

The greatest thing MMA has going for it right now, is in a dull boring fight, u still get that very real sensation that at any moment, any fighter can knock out any opponent, no matter how far behind.

Boxing has lost that with this big gloves. And its not like boxing purists could complain if we suddenly went back to smaller gloves because thats how it was back in the day.

ANd dont think im some selfish prick. It would be SAFER for the fighters. They wouldnt take sustained beatings to the head. Let me ask you this. Do you think for a second that Jesse Feliciano would have gotten out of that first round if the gloves were half the size? No, he would gotten KO'd about 10 seconds after that first KD.

This way the fighters, like Feliciano, dont take rediculous beatings over or 10 or 12 rounds, and then do it again a few months later.

Not to mention, more excitment means more money for the fighters.

If MMA can get away with practically no gloves, i cannot see why boxing doesnt make smaller gloves.

Look back to the olden days for proof that its safer. RARE deaths, and fighters would fight hundreds of times and still live healthy lives well into their 90's. ****, isnt Carmen Basilio and Jake Lamotta still alive?!?!?!?!

But look at today, you have guys that fight 40-50 times and are practically brain dead!

        C'mon seriously
I don't recall a good post from you but this is definitely one. Good job. On smaller gloves being SAFER, it is a proven fact, not just a guts feeling.
