Chavez Jr Overcomes Injury, Stops Loriga

By Jake Donovan - It wasn't a performance for the time capsule, but Julio Cesar Chavez Jr continues his winning ways. The latest victim was previously unbeaten Italian contender Tobia Giuseppe Loriga, as Chavez in the main event at Plaza de Toros in Queretaro, Mexico.

Action was slow in the first round, a seemingly running tradition in the legendary Chavez family. Loriga came forward while Chavez shot jabs to the head and body from the outside while circling to his left for much of the round.

Things didn't stat quiet for long; Chavez exploded with a straight right less than a minute into the second round, sending Loriga cashing to the canvas. The Italian rose early but wisely went back down in taking the mandatory eight-count in efforts to clear his head. To his credit, Loriga recovered well, staying in Chavez' face for the remainder of the round, not that he had much wiggle room in a bout fought in a 16' foot ring.

A severe low blow was the highlight of round three, with Chavez going well south of the border in drawing a warning from referee Lupe Garcia. Both fighters looked unsure of what they wanted to do on offense in round four, which led to several clinches, and too little punching. Another Chavez left hook strayed low late in the round, forcing Loriga to double over in pain. [details]

Their just feeding Chavez Jr lemon boxers to pad his record... and make some money out of it... but only a fool will believe Junior's the real thing... if they think he can handle the heat, let him fight top-notch boxers in his division... all of the boxers he fought are paid to take a dive and most of them are either pretenders or actors... get real... ******!

He truly looked slow tonight, if Camacho takes this seriously and trains his ass off I think he'll take him easily.

            don't hate

juilio chavez junir is moving along just fight. This kid is still a baby. Though he only had little amatuar experience. He atleast had some. He's now had almost fourty pro fights and he hasn't lost yet. He fought threw a bad injury and still put his man away. Though the itlian wasn't great he made the youngster earn the knockout. rising from knockdowns in the second and ninth rounds. there are now talks of chavez jr vs camacho jr. It's cute and it sells. why not. it gives juilo a chance to feel that huge fight atmasphere without having fight a top fighter. After that i would give him better competion. Let him fight the alex bunema's of the world. Guys like j.c. candelo or even verno phillips. Who now owns a belt after beating cory spinks. What ever they do don't rush him in with the top two or three fighters in the division. Verno forrest would hurt this kid. so don't rush him. I guess i'll have to just wait and see.

i guess no matter how many times it is explained that jr is just starting out, and has no amature career (which is very important in starting a career) people are still wondering why he's not fighting for titles yet. i guess those people know jack **** about boxing. or they're blinded by what arums doing to the kid. jr has 35 pro fights, 4 amature fights. the average amature career is 150-250 fights, altogether he has 39 fights and you guys want him to step it up? **** i think he's doing real good considering.

Chávez Jr is not looking impressive even against this kind of opposition, and now, the fight that no one was asking for looms in the horizon...

I find it sad that a fighter learning the ropes, with virtually NO AM experience gets ****ted on strictly due to the fact that he's related to a famous fighter and that his PROMOTERS are trying to gain off that. Like it's his ****ing fault.
