I'm a bit confused, here is a Mayweather fan saying that Miguel Cotto is the new Jeff Lacy. Now Jeff Lacy's biggest "accomplishments" are winning the USBA and NABA super middleweight titles. Soon as he stepped up to a name, Joe Calzaghe, he was destroyed. So im having a hard time figuring out the connection here.

He won the Ibf strap from Syd Vanderpool. Vanderpool was decent, fought hopkins at 160, but no stud. Lacy was hyped as the next big thing, with not much on his resume, he was the second coming.

One comparison I made between the two is that one of the main reasons they are so entertaining (aside from them knocking guys out) was that they were both vulnerable champions. Cotto had been rocked a few times, as had Lacy, but both found ways to beat their guys. Sort of like Larry Holmes, who persevered while on the cusp of doom.

But yeah, there is no comparison. Cotto was the gem of the 2000 class, Lacy wasn't one of the top guys on his team.
