I guess the only point I would make is that you wouldn't bring Cotto up through that resume as early as you would Floyd. He's really developed chronologically a few years later than Floyd did, it's a much different style. You really don't want to bring up a fighter faster than you should. But does that speak to a fighter's ultimate potential? The Cotto story is far from written yet, let's see if he gets through Margarito this Saturday and in what fashion. And he probably still needs a few more challenging fights, so that his status can really reach the higher levels.

Do I think Cotto get's through Floyd's resume a year or 2 later than Floyd did? Sure.

Do I think he beats Floyd now? Probably not

Do I think a year from now, with say 3-4 more victories to further develop? Maybe. For sure if he gets that far he'll pose the biggest challenge.

But it's probably not going to happen. It would require a victory over Margarito and Oscar to create the kind of marketability to make it even feasible for Floyd to consider, given he walked away from the Oscar bout.

In terms of comparisons though, Saturday's bout is very critical for Cotto IMO.
