  • How does Calzaghe's resume stand now that he has beaten Hop?

this is a thread for serious objective posters. The fact is, he beat Hopkins. Just like Pacquiao can boast a win over JMM even though many thought JMM won, Cal can boast a win over Hopkins. How do you feel Joe Cal's resume is now?

Solid. Never having lost helps, as does dominating 168 for so long. If he can add, say, Jones Jr., Pavlik, and Dawson to that resume, he's definitely one of the greats.

    But very solid right now.

This was his 1st "big" win in his career. He did beat Eubank but was more of a European thing, you know what I mean. Beating Roy will give him another name, but beating Pavlik or Dawson will be against a young prime fighter, it will legitimize him.

i concur with your analysis. it would serve his legacy better if he were to fight either Dawson, Pavlik, or maybe even Tarver after he fights RJJ. of course, if he wins.

le gana a Pavlik, pero tarver y Dawson son southpaws, could be trouble. Stylistically could be the making of a boring fight with those two southpaws.

thing with Tarver es que he hasnt shown he can hang at a higher pace. he doesnt hold like hop and i dont think he has the style that would be able to affect Cal's productivity.

sucks though. im a Tarver fan and it's kinda sad to see someone that doesnt really fight like the boxer you became of fan of anymore.

Calzaghe's downfall was that he didn't beat any welterweights up.
