He was a good middleweight champion but hardly a legend, heck he lost to an inexperienced protected fluff fighter named Jermain Taylor twice. Yeah he's a legend alright ....in his own mind..

That being said I don't think Joe Calzaghe is a legend either and he has a better record...Ali, Roberto Duran, Sugar Ray Robinson not those were more than good champions... THEY WERE AND ARE LEGENDS
Which middleweights, outside of Hagler, during his reign do you think Hopkins loses to? Minter? Antufermo? Hamsho was a very good middleweight, but I don't think he beats Hopkins.

Hopkins, when his workrate slowed at an older age, lost to Taylor. And Hagler, past his prime, lost to a natural welterweight in Leonard who hadn't fought in 3 years, and just once in 5 years (and looked lousy in that one fight).

They arent in Hopkins league, what makes you think people will respect Joe more?

Joe could beat Dawson, Johnson, Tarver but the man to beat was Hopkins and he did that.
IF he wants to leave no doubt, then he fights the young lion in Dawson, and the former elite in Tarver, and the former champion road warrior in Johnson. Then there is no doubt of his legitimacy. Or Tarver then Dawson would be fine, since Dawson beat Johsnson.

Yeah at 40 years old! How old was Hagler when he was clearly slipping and retired? Oh yeah, 32 . So shut the **** up!

Tarver is 39 and was always a one hit wonder
Glen is 39 and has had dozens of defeats
Sure, Chad is good but who has he fought?

Calzaghe just ought to fight Kelly Pavlik
