Chad Dawson a piece of the future

Ive been watching this kid for like 3years now and i been sayin to myself he has the potential to be the next great....One problem is his defense.....Eric Harding knocked him down.....Thomas Ademek floored him...and Glen Johnson almost took his head off.....I was a little excited that he once had Floyd Sr in his corner because i figured that he would help improve his defense but he only had him for one fight. Im a little bit worried because he showed that he can be hurt but if a fight is made against Tarver....he better improve his D

i agree. he has all the right tools to be the future of the division but his defense needs to be worked on. his attitude needs a little adjustment too. as a fighter, if the fans dont think you beat someone convincingly and you're trying to make a name for yourself, you gotta get back in there and finish the job. i hope he gives Johnson another shot.

Actually Dawson has shown good defense when he was with Floyd Mayweather Sr. The problem with Dawson is that we never knew how good his defense was until his fight against Johnson. Adamek never tested him and neither did Harding. What I noticed about Dawson is that he regressed badly against Johnson. Offensively he was flat and defensively he had holes, which was the exact opposite in his previous fights. I always knew Dawson had defensive problems, had he stayed with Floyd Mayweather Sr it would have been ironed out. So it's pretty clear to me that Eddie Mustafa hasn't been doing his job. Dawson doesn't need a specific trainer, all he needs is a trainer that can help him improve on his defense and have him properly prepared for fights. A guy like Emmanuel Steward, Freddie Roach, Jeff Mayweather, or Buddy McGirt would work well with Dawson. The most ideal situation for Dawson would be to go back to Sr, but judging from Sr's recent comments thats no longer a possibility.

On the positive side though, Dawson is now experienced, and knows what he needs to do to fix his problems. So whether he stays with Mustafa or not, I expect to see a major improvement on his defense in his next fight.
