    Joe Calzaghe issues Heavyweight challenge!

Team Calzaghe recently revealed a great challenge for the true Heavyweight Championship of the World was scrapped because of the untimely death of Max Schmeling! The Calzaghe camp regretfully had to withdraw from what was to be the highest grossing fight in European history. Talks began last November following Calzaghe's big win over Mikkel Kessler. "It was Joe's wish to become the first man in history to jump from 168 to heavyweight and win the title in 1 fight" said promoter Frank Warren. "As Long as he doesn't have to fight a heavyweight younger then 100 years old". After Max Schmeling slipped into a coma on January 31st 2008 Calzaghe believed he could still salvage the fight. Schmeling's death two days later almost definitely closed the deal. After a few more days of negotiations team Calzaghe gave up and signed to fight Bernard Hopkins in Vegas....
