you know Rodney? I got to know him pretty well when we got him to come for sparring in getting Tony prepped for his fight against Williams. So when did he tell you all this because the things he told me different stories and I call bull****
do tell I'm all ears...or eyes...about how you and Rodney talked about thisLast edited by Eaner0919; 04-23-2008, 10:13 PM.Comment

I'm sorry but I just don't see the hype behind Margarito. I just see a tough guy with a good chin that puts on good pressure. He's an exciting fighter to watch, I give you that. Beyond that though, I don't see whats so special about him. Margarito a feared monster? I personally think he's pretty slow and one dimensional.
You'll have a hard time finding anyone who had an easy fight with him. He is a hell of a competitor, and one of my favorite fighters.Comment

bottom line is the man can be outboxed but it will be very difficult for someone to outbrawl him. Cotto lies somewhere in the middle when he so chooses to to be. Cotto seems to be smart enough through experience to have learned that sometimes you cant just beat a gut into submission. I dont think this fight will be the all out war everyone thinks it will be and that Cotto will use the jab, handspeed, pick his spots and work the body to take a decision. Margarito is a tough SOB and no one on here should be counting him out. If Cotto beats him by decision it will be a great win if he can take him out either to the body or by stoppage he should be recognized as the true Welterweight division champion by everyone including the ring.Comment

I'm not dissing him at all. I LIKE margarito. The reason why I like him is he's fun to watch, hes an action fighter, and he's mentally tough.
All i'm saying is the guys a bit overrated considering his skillset. Yeah, he's good at what he does, and he's efficient at what he does. He moves forward and he brawls and is willing to trade punches relying on his chin. He's slow footed, he doesn't have much of a jab. He's very similar to ricky hatton. If that doesn't say one dimensional, I don't know what does. I see him losing to a skilled boxer, and I completely disagree with him beating floyd. Floyd would expose him.Comment

you put a comment acting like you know for a fact that Rodney Jones
1. said those things
2. never sparred
like I said in your comments you know not what you talk about
Rodney Jones sparred with Tony from late March to mid June for about 6 weeks. If necessary I could show you the W-9 he filled out for his work. We became pretty good friends during that period had him over to my boy's house a few times to watch fights etc
so again want to talk out of your ass?Comment
