    Mayweather's Master Plan

The thread about Cotto not bein important sparked a conversation between some people over here. Did Floyd hope it would come to this (eventually havin to fight the Cotto-Margarito winner, his clear #1 challenger) cuz he feels he has a better chance beatin Margarito or Cotto after they do some serious damage to each other? Is he hopin Marg does his dirty work for him and beats Cotto cuz he thinks Tony is the easier opponent, or vice versa? Is he tryin to build anticipation to make the Cotto fight as rich as possible, or is he just flat out scared ****less?

I made this exact statement like a month ago.

This will turn out just like Leonard/Hagler. Leonard only took a fight with Hagler after Mugabi took a ton out of Hagler. The same's going to happen when Margarito takes a ton out of Cotto. That's when Floyd will jump in.

Mayweather's plan is pretty obvious. Rematch DLH. Rematch Hatton. Fight Cotto at the end of next year. Retire undefeated and ****** ****ing rich.

Unfortunately I have to hear the ***** whining from the Floyd-haters/Cotto-nuthuggers until the fight is finally signed next year.

He's trying to let Margarito take a bit out of Cotto and then fight Cotto if Cotto wins.

Margarito is an easier opponent for Mayweather because Mayweather's style is perfect to offset Margarito's.

And, he's also making the fans salivate for the fight so he can make more money from it.

Agreed. Whoever wins may not be what they used to be after that, since the fight is likely to be a war with both taking heavy damage. Then he'll say say the loser sucks and he never should have fought him and the winner sucks since he had such a hard time. He might fight the winner though but they won't be what they were possibly.

Margarito and Cotto are the best challengers out there for Mayweather, so they should fight each other to see who is the better man. The winner will become an even bigger name than they are already meaning the fight with Mayweather will be worth even more money! That is providing Mayweather beats Oscar and Hatton, which I'm sure he will. Then Mayweather can retire undefeated!

It's a mix of wanting Cotto to win and wanting the fight to get bigger

I like the way you did this because even though our questions are similiar, they're completely different. The thing I keyed on here is; I think immediately in Floyd's mind he wants Margarito to beat Cotto for him. He can still avoid Margo for the most part like Mech said.. I think he wants Cotto knocked out the box for all the talk. At the very least.. Floyd doesn't seem to have problems acting like these guys aren't right in front of him anyway.

I would have to disagree respectufully. I think my basis is just on seeing how Floyd was when he was trying to make a name for himself. He was calling out an undefeated Shane Mosley when he was still at 130. Now his bases is more on money than the opponent, I don't think he cares who he faces as long as he is making top dollar. He will fight either of them if they get him to rake in the dough.
