  • Team Mayweather: "Cotto Not Important"

During a recent interview with the NY Post, Leonard Ellerbe, the advisor/manager to pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr, said Miguel Cotto is not at the point where he is important enough to land a fight with Floyd. Ellerbe cites poor television ratings (on HBO) for Cotto's recent defense of the WBA welterweight title against Alfonso Gomez. He does feel Cotto is good fighter who improves with each passing fight. Are you kidding me? He has no legacy. Thats why he has to fight Cotto. Why is he talking about money? He turned down 8 mil to fight Margo. How many years did it take Cotto to headline a PPV event? 2 3? Mayweather will never fight Cotto and will be looked at as a coward. Everyone in boxing knows it. Theres not one fight people would rather see. As pressure builds up he will use Arum as an Excuse not to fight him. Yet he talks about a fight with Pacman hes a joke.

At the moment I would agree that Cotto needs some more fights. Neither guys is chasing this fight, but I do think it will happen inside of a year or 2.

Why the **** does Floyd always use Ellerbe as his mouthpiece? That guy gets annoying wit all his **** talk. And sayin **** like that is what's losin Floyd support from his fans that want to side with him. I think Floyd is tryin to collect all the cash he can easily get before he gets in a serious fight with Cotto, but he needs to stop talkin ****. He's doin a good job makin people go crazy wit demand for the fight but he looks like such a ***** runnin his mouth on the sidelines while Cotto is about to face Margarito. He'll be kickin himself if Tony beats Cotto cuz he'll have missed out on the opportunity to cash in on the Cotto fight before, and he'll definitely never go anywhere near Marg.

After Mayweather-De La Hoya, he'll change his tune or retire because after that theres no excuse not to fight him.

Cotto has had alot of pressure on him to perform and deliver, so he deserves credit for getting the job done. But Floyd did not have a built in fanbase waiting for him, so that side of it also has to be respected and acknowledged.

Both these guys have earned their way to the place they're in, but it's not for Roger or Floyd to dissect Cotto's market value. Miguel is attractive enough, ****. He's got huge buzz. It's starting to sound like Team Mayweather is saying that he's not worth enough versus the risk he poses..

NOPE, He will be fighting Hatton again in Wembly Stadium for his largest payday ever. Maybe after that Cotto will be the draw and they can hook up. That is if he gets by Oscar and Hatton first.
