What if MAYORGA never Beat VERNON FORREST?
Mayorga ruined the vipers life! Vernon was the man after he demolished mosley 2 times....I think vernon would of been a legend if he never faced mayorga or waited for the rematch.

Vernon could have been an ATG in my opinion. He had all the tools to beat the best fighters at that time.Comment

I thought Mayorga's big run woulda lasted longer after he beat Vernon. Since it didn't, even though I like Mayorga I kinda wish he hadn't beat him cuz Vernon was a beast and hasn't been the same since. Had Vernon gotten by him I think he woulda beaten Spinks to get the undisputed welter crown at the end of '03.Comment

Winky, Trinidad, Vargas, and Delahoya were all better than Vernon in my opinion for guys around that size, Vernon just happend to have Shane's number probably because of size. A career a lot like Winky Wright's before he got his chance against Mosley I would guess. An ABC title, but not the sport-wide recognition that he got after beating Mosley.
Also, to answer the thread itself... he would have lost very soon to whoever he fought. He is a jab-dependent fighter, and his left shoulder was coming apart at the seams. He couldn't win without his hard jab to set his other **** up, or to keep his opponent off.Comment
