i think a part of foreman wanted to prove how good he reallly was - he was only going to be known for losing to Ali - i suppose you could argue that he did lose to the greatest but still is a loss.
if anything it shows how good george could have been if he was in another era.

Foreman had 1 punch KO power! He wasn't winning against Moorer and then he landed that one-two combo and boom, the fight is over. Even at 47 Foreman still had most if not all of his power left. Power is one of the last things to fade on an old boxer unlike speed and stamina.Comment

For a vacant non recognised title against a journeyman? Hardly the same thing. Like saying Audley Harrison was world champ when he won the WBF bull **** belt.
George did it with his size, power and experience. He did well in the late 80's early 90's and he was in a good spot in 94' as the title holder was thought to have a weak chin. Plus being a southpaw mean't Moorer was a little vulnerable to Georges' right.Comment

My favorite fight of all time. It happened primarily because Moorer grew lazy and allowed it to happen. If he continues circled to his right Foreman had no chance. Instead, he grew overconfident and lazy while he was easily dominating Foreman every round.
Whether or not George planned it is irrelevant in my opinion. It's nice to think that he did, but it falls on Moorer's shoulders.
As far as doing it so, so late... Foreman had a fantastic mind for boxing and power is always the last thing to go for fighters.Comment
