He did seem to have great chemistry with Pat Burns. They should have at least kept him as a second assistant or something if they were going to hire Steward.
That's what happened for a while. But then ***gy Steward got too ****y and didn't want another trainer in his ear and they let Burns go.

    Biggest mistake.

The story behind Taylor is that he got rushed along too soon. As soon as HBO got ahold of him they started trying to mold him into "the next great Middleweight". He hadn't had any experience against elite guys when they threw him in with Hopkins, most people think he lost the first Hopkins fight, and lost the Wright fight.

HBO wanted a new, young, likeable posterboy for their boxing campaign and they rushed Taylor into it before he was ready. That is what happened to Jermain Taylor.

i dont think jermain taylor ever had a downfall

i think he is still as good as he was before....

a good fighter, JUST good enough to beat SOME elite fighters

and NOT good enough to beat others....

he was never above the elite level, just always barely hanging within it

IMO there is nothing seriously wrong with Taylor, and he's a world-class fighter. Spinks was a bad match-up for him, and no one can look good against Hopkins. My prediction is that Jermain will win a title at super middleweight within a year or so.
          I agree with Tunney.
