where do you rate aaron pryor and what place does he have in boxing?

Personally i think that he was the greatest 140 pounder there ever was. relentless, predator, come forward type brawler. almost all his fights ended in exciting kos, and he lost only once in his career, on his downslide. no other junior middleweight comes close to him.

man the one fight i would have loved to see is him vs duran. if roberto fought pryor before he made his move to 147 to challenge leonard, that would have been one sweet brawl. hell even the fight with leonard would have been great.

Didn't get the marquee fights after Arguello but nonetheless he is one of the best that I've seen. Its too bad he couldn't keep his nose clean, no telling what he would have accomplishe past the 140 divsion.

he would have tossed mayweather around the ring like a rag doll. he would be like a pitbull chewing on a bone. floyd with all his flashy moves and that little elbow....it would have been useless.

you said it, aint gonna be another one like him. in ways he was more dynamic than henry armstrong, another great fighter. both men fought at a high intensity, but pryor was a thing of beauty. A beautiful fighter

Pryor was impossible to dissuade in his prime. He had a hell of a chin, was fast with his hands and feet and could knock you out with one punch.

He also had poor defense and his balance deficiencies contributed to most of his knockdowns.

Bottom line, he was all balls, all the way. It's hard to beat guys like that. We would know more about him had he fought more households names like Mancini, Leonard or Duran.

That said, I think he stands head and shoulders above the rest of the junior welterweight pack, with the great Argentinian Nicollino Loche being in that discussion for 1-2.

Kostya Tszyu was never the same after the Vince Phillips fight, but I'd give that version of Tszyu a slight chance of beating Pryor.

...He was a piece of **** crackhead. He was also one of the greatest of all times at any weight. Alexis Arguello was my favorite fighter when the Hawk beat him and I will never forgive him for that. I couldn't believe Pryor stood up to the shots that Alexis landed in the first fight. He got hit with clean monster shots and took them. Someone posted a video of him roughing up Tommy Hearns in the ams a while back.

yep, there are only few fighters out there like pryor who go into the fight with complete disregard for their safety. that's what makes him so enjoyable to watch.

glad you mentioned tszyu, he was an exceptional fighter, but i would still favour the hawk in that fight. it would be a wild fight, with some knockdowns. but the kind of pressure pryor was able to bring to the table, i dont know if kostya could handle that. especially if it was 15 rounds......pryor had a phenomenal work ethic, and conditioning. i see him outlasting tszyu

yea he did beat hearns as an amateur, and probably would have knocked him out in the pros too. the man had over 200 amateur fights. a killer.

Honestly when I think of the best badass in boxing, I think of Aaron Pyror. Even more so then Duran and Hagler.
