Roy Jones? Could he have success against Calzaghe using Winky Wright style

I don't think Calzaghe has the one punch KO power of a Antonoio Tarver where Roy was worried about getting caught with that big left hand. Plus Tarver was bigger.

With Calzaghe, even though he throws a lot of punches, i can see Roy keeping the fight in the middle of the ring using that Winky Wright style and keeping his hands up while coming forward. Calzaghe will throw a lot of combinations, but i can see Roy blocking and countering with quick 1-2 punch combos and eventually putting together more combinations.

There's a reason why Roy wants this fight so bad because he feels it's a great matchup for him and a great way to get back on top.

Roy is more active then Hopins and has way more power.

    Roy would toy with Calzaghe.

He can have success with the style, the key in this fight is whether Jones has the legs to keep the fight at center ring. A much smaller fighter in Trinidad managed to push Jones at times when he forced the issue, Calzaghe is naturally bigger and stronger than Trinidad and if Jones lays on the ropes, I think he'd lose, even with the Winky defense.

Edit: I forgot to add, Jones would have to counter Calzaghe right away.

The style Roy used against Tito, it would be interesting to see how much success he would have using that against Calzaghe.

Calzaghe is not a big puncher, and if Roy doesnt respect your power, i think he's got a great shot at winning, using this style.

No he wouldn't because Winky's style is flawed against fighters who use a lot of angles (like Calzaghe) and depends upon a jab constantly. Roy doesn't have a jab at all.

            No.

Winky Wright would get killed by Calzaghe with that style he uses (and that is saying a lot from me, considering I love Wright). When Wright shells up, that would trigger a flurry like the one that ended the Manfredo fight. The Wright style requires a fighter to stop throwing before a counter shot comes, at least from what I have seen of it.

The worst part of it is, Roy Jones is not nearly as good at the Wright style as Wright is, and Wright would get eaten alive by Calzaghe IMO.
