When I arrived, there was a huge amount of people lining up waiting to get in. When the fight started the place was packed to the rafters, and the atmosphere was incredible with everybody cheering and singing. Considering it cost 5 pound to get in, it was rainy and cold, it was on at 3:30 in the morning, and was shown for free on setanta, I was surprised at the depth of calzaghe's support. I had a great time, and even though it was not the most entertaining fight, I wont forget that atmosphere for a while.

Where did everybody else watch the fight? and were you surprised at Calzaghe's support?
Calzaghe is a winner, us Brits don't have many of those, hence the support from the other side of the bridge.

I thought the fight Was exactly what it was supposed to be tight and cagey the result was the right one (no matter how many points ppl lost on it!) And I'm not surprised by the support calzaghe got/gets the british will support any sportman from britain if they are half decent and facing a "foreigner"

            He always was...
Hopkins degraded to using racial slurs, acting hurt from low blows when he really wasnt and bitching about the result when he got beat.

I lost alot of respect for him and im sure others did too

He has huge support throughout England.

Most of my friends here in England tried their very best to get tickets for the Kessler fight at the Millenium Stadium but they just couldn't get one, no matter how much money they offered.

A Welsh friend of mine who went to the fight last night said that the support there for Joe was about 50% English.

He is loved by the British and he knows it.

I only know four Scottish people but three quarters of my Scottish friends actually consider themselves British before Scottish.

Scotland is a major part of this nation and I hope that always remains the case.
