I know that Calzaghe has great support in Britain, but last night I realised just how loved Calzaghe is, especially by his English fans.
I went to Peterborough last night, to watch the fight in a 24hr sports/pool bar, only expecting there to be a few other boxing fanatics like myself in there. When I arrived, there was a huge amount of people lining up waiting to get in. When the fight started the place was packed to the rafters, and the atmosphere was incredible with everybody cheering and singing. Considering it cost 5 pound to get in, it was rainy and cold, it was on at 3:30 in the morning, and was shown for free on setanta, I was surprised at the depth of calzaghe's support. I had a great time, and even though it was not the most entertaining fight, I wont forget that atmosphere for a while.
Where did everybody else watch the fight? and were you surprised at Calzaghe's support?
