    If Cotto Convincingly Beats Margarito....

If Cotto convincingly beats Margarito, will you consider him #1 WW??

Consider that Mayweather at 147 has beat....

    Shramba Mitchell
    Zab Judah
    Carlos Baldomir
    Ricky Hatton

    While Cotto has beat....

    Carlos Quintana
    Zab Judah
    Shane Mosley
    Alfonso Gomez
    Oktay Urkal

If Cotto adds Margarito to this list of fighters that he has demolished at 147 would you consider his resume at WW to be more significant and therefore consider him #1 WW fighter?

I would consider him the number 1 welterweight, especially considering Mayweather's upcoming schedule.

A case could be made that he is #1 already, but beating Margarito will make that official.

I agree, Margarito will be very tough, but if Cotto beats him I really wouldnt understand why anyone would consider Mayweather #1.

Plenty of people will say that Mayweather is the man based on beating that turtle called Baldomir.

I usually think nobodies #1 unless they beat the man that is, but since it seems Mayweather is only worried about making money and not fighting meaningful fights then I would have to give it to Cotto if he won against Marge and won it rather easily.
