    Was anyone disappointed in Joe

It wasn't the performance many expected off of him, but has anyone ever looked good against the wiley Hopkins the best spoiler in the game.

His first fight in america, his first at light-heavyweight, the worst start he could have wished for and was 4 points down on my card after 3 rounds. With a mountain to climb and a biased referee he still managed to keep his head unlike Hatton and turn the situation around. He did enough to nick it by a point or two at most.

I thought this was gonna be a close decision either way and while Joe certainly wasn't convincing he still landed more on Hopkins than any other of his previous opponents.

Calzaghe is much better when the fighter is coming at him but he proved what a class act he his and that he can adapt to any situation or fighter and still prevail.

Joe Calazghe the best P4P fighter ever that the british isles has ever produced, surpassing Lennox Lewis.

He has nothing left to prove and should retire now. I don't know if he has enough desire left in him to clean out the light-heavies but I would pick him over Tarver,RJJ,Johnson and Dawson.

it's not his fault. bernard always has boring fights. his style doesn't allow anyone to look good against him.

bernard is a big step up for joe. you can't expect him to dominate a seasoned veteran like hop like he did lacy.

the point is a he got up from a knockdown and adjusted well after not doing so good in the first few rounds. it shows character and skill.

I know that people always look off against Hopkins, but that was just another level of tentativeness. The hard shots were there for him all night, but instead he opted to throwing shots that literally hit Hopkins with his wrists. He only really flurried when Hopkins tried to sneak his right in, when he should have stepped it back and thrown some hard straights or an uppercut. He definitely got the win, but it wasn't a hilight performance. And not something that I think he should retire to. He was probably weary from the right hand after round 1.

I was actually very impressed with joe because he came back from the kd to win the fight.

No im not Hopkins just didnt want to fight.

Who else in the world could come back after that first round and totally dominate Hopkins like that despite being held onto like glue, headbutted and have him con a 5min break?

Hopkins is the worst fighter for Calzaghe and he still schooled him.

i'm not. the fight went just about as i figured, joe did enough to win against an ugly, tough fighter.

                I wasn't disappointed at all.

He showed some nice techical skills in this fight, he didn't square up his feet as much as he used to, he didn't throw as many looping shots as he used to, he used good head movement and used his jab nicely down the stretch. It's hard to look good against Hopkins.

Your right he could have done things a little differently but he got the job done in the end.

Again you were right about him being weary of the right hand and I stated this before the fight. I said if he can earn Joe's respect with that straight right early on and make him think and therefore slow his workrate then he can win this, otherwise Joe will outwork him.

I think a lot of things went against calzaghe in the fight, think it took him a few rounds to get over the knock down, thought cortez let hopkins hold too much, many times he didn't even throw punches just threw himself into a clinch.

Calzaghe couldve boxed better and thrown more straght punches, but def was a good performance considering how dirty hopkins is, I also think joe started looking himself again in round 8,9 and the fight started getting one sided, but after hopkins 5 minute break he got his breath back and went back to clinching to probably save himself from a bit of beating in the late rounds
