Hopkins beat by Joe or Father Time?

Alright guys. I said it before the fight and now after the fight I'll say it again. IMO had Hopkins and Calzaghe fought just 2 years ago I think Hopkins would've won. Turn back the clock 5 years I wouldn't be surprised if Bernard knocks Calzaghe out. To me this is a classic example of a younger fighter beating an older fighter on his way out of the game. Bernard got a friggin split decision of IMO the best fighter the UK's ever produced at the age of 43... 43!!! He knocked him down in the first and fought very well. To me it just ****** to watch because I know had this fight taken place with both of them 36 not even have Joe 36 and B-Hop 40, 41 Bernard would've won. Just wondering to see how many of you guys think the same. Was this a case of Joe beating Hopkins or Hopkins being beat by father time?

PS For all the peeps from the UK flame away guys. I'm just stating my opinion. I'm not a British hater. You guys do have universal healthcare after all.

I'm British but I watched that fight with a bunch of friends, scoring after every round. No one ever thought Joe won that fight even Enzo calzaghe himself.Listen to what he was saying between the rounds.

Joe's Chrismas came early and now he can go after an over the hill fighter like Roy Jones

If hopkins output was just a little higher which i would be in his prime, he would have won much easier, and before you say that would create more opportunities for joe, no.

Definitely father time. Joe did a good job keeping out of trouble but a not gazed Hopkins would have finished what he started. Even Calzaghe fans are quiet now. In my opinion this was one of those rare cases of a fighter getting exposed through a win. Joe is easy to get caught and if Roy Jones were in his old days or if he doesn't tire, he can defeat Joe in spectacular fashion. A younger opponent like Pavlik will kill Joe.

yep. Calzaghe got lucky he fought a 43 year old hopkins. I mean, come one, knock down in round one from BHOP? lol, that's unheard of. Check the tapes of a young hopkins and tell me a young version hop bhop couldn't KO calzaghe. it would be easy. Even funnier to think about is how Roy Jones would have destroyed Calzaghe back in the day at suppermiddle.

I always thought it would be comfortable to beat Hopkins," he continued.

"But my wins over Mikkel Kessler and Jeff Lacy rate as being more satisfying because in those fights I performed at my best.

"I am still satisfied with the win but I didn't win in the style that I wanted to win.

              of the bbc website.

at least he realised it wasnt his best fight and even though you moan about him wanting a fight with roy jones but i read calzaghes biography and he always wanted to fight him. so its only really a dream he wanted to fufill.

If Hopkins was soo out of his prime, and washed up, why was he rated higher than Calzaghe P4P? You beat a higher ranked boxer and you get no credit.
