    Hopkins

Man, to see him have to take an L against a fighter like Joe, that sucks. I really didn't expect to see Hopkins collapse under that pitty pat pressure, and technically he didn't. Just so many slaps in his face in such a constant fashion, I don't think he was able to focus, and that in itself lead to his mental meltdown. lol I mean who fights like that other then Joe? At one point in the 11th I think, Hopkins, out of frustration, did a brief slap combo of his own to mimic Joe's, and thats when I knew Hopkins completely lost confidence and strategic advantage. Any time a fighter frustrates you to the point you close your eyes, and try to mimic him, (Hopkins closing his eyes with his head down, and trying to do a slap combo himself), especially late in a fight...you know thats when you have no answers. But I knew there was no way in hell that Joe would hurt Hopkins, and he didn't, and I knew no way in hell Hopkins would eat canvas, and he didn't.

But I honestly felt without a question that Joe would have ate that right hand later, as oppose to eating it so early. I initially saw Hopkins not even being bothered by those weird-ass slapping shots, I initially saw Bernard walking through those shots and just landing some of the most accurate and sharpest shots Joe has ever seen. But nah, Hopkins actually collapsed in the later middle rounds.

Another thing that I had no clue about until I saw the countdown on Friday, was Freddy Roach in his corner. I mean every time I saw Roach before he had Paq he would say nothing, even in Paq's corner he says nothing, in Israels corner he would say nothing, in Oscar's corner he says nothing, so why would Bernard get this guy in his corner? Does Roach have some kind of technique on the mitts these guys respect or what?

"I won't show Bernard anything knew."- Freddy Roach on that Countdown ****

lol Not show him anything knew? How about a ****in Jab at least! Bernard already can avoid punches, if he would have just stuck a stiff Jab out to Joe's mouth when ever he would lunge in, Bernard would have clipped him. It's not like anything devastating was coming at him anyways. Even if something was, Bernard is more then capable of picking up on it. I mean they knew Joe would lunge in, they saw him lunge in, and I think Roach told him to throw the right or throw combinations. ****...lol What the ****!?

lol Anyways, that **** was garbage through and through. Joe didn't impress, at least not me anyways, and Bernard didn't utilize a single aspect of his arsenal. I expected what I saw from Joe, he doesn't do anything new, he just keeps slapping gloves in your face like his hands are giant mosquitoes, but I expected so much more out of Hopkins.

I'm not sure if he 'collapsed' but he was getting a little desperate towards the end of the fight. Exagerrating the low punches, doing a little slap flurry of his own etc. Apart from that I thought he fought a good fight early on. Calzaghe then made adjustments to take control of the fight.

I honestly thought that Calzaghe didn't do all that bad, he didn't let his feet get out of position too much, he was patient, didn't throw too many looping shots and so forth. It's hard to look good against a guy like Bernard Hopkins.

An orthodox jab normally isn't too effective against a southpaw, Roach was telling Hopkins to throw combinations, Hopkins just didn't have it in him to do so.

Roach normally likes to let his fighters calm down a little then start talking, HBO cameras normally go directly to the corners after the round is over then start replaying action from the last round, that's probably why we don't see Roach talking a lot.

If it wasn't for the flash KD Calzaghe would have won easily.

Bernard tired in the later rounds. I think you'll all agree it's safe to say had Hopkins not been a Grandpa he would have got that? I believe he would.

          Er no.

This version is as good as it would get against Calzaghe he has the style to get to Joe.

Prime Hopkins would at least try to fight back and he would get slapped silly this version held more than any fighter in any fight ever.
