Calzaghe: Better fighter at SMW than LH??

I'm thinking perhaps Joe is a better fighter at SMW? I know it's his first fight at LH. But Joe looks faster at 168. Yes, it was his first fight at this weight and you cant expect to hit the ground running straight away, plus Hopkins is a spoiler; but hmm. I'll give him one more fight at LH, but I am sure he is more dangerous at SMW.

need to see another fight to consider this opinion. if he was in with any other fight other than B-Hop and he still preformed like this, than maybe the idea has merit, but it was against B-Hop, the style killer.

You just compared 44 fights at one weight to 1 fight at another, wow

It was the worst performance from Joe for a while. Got to give credit to Hopkins' style for making it difficult. He did seem to move faster at 168, though.

Agree with everything you say about how Joe looked. I think we may be underestimating Hopkins as a spoiler though.

Definitely need another fight to decide. I can't imagine Joe struggling in any other way than the one he struggled in tonight, against a fighter other than Hopkins I suspect he'd be fine.

I think he was a bit overwhelmed by the new surroundings at first, and it took him awhile to get into his normal rhythm.

Bernard Hopkins makes all his opponents look bad. Fighting a difficult opponent had more to do with it than the additional weight. But from round four on, Joe got better and better, coming back to his usual self by the later rounds.

I knew what to expect from Hopkins, but yet was hoping for a good, classic fight-which this fight was not. I think this fact is clouding my judgment.

I want to see him in another fight at 175 before saying he's better or not there. It's very hard to look good against Hopkins,

I must agree. But the again, it was Bernard. Hmm. I've got to re-watch this fight again. Sit back and take stock. I am in two minds.
