He won, and he was very happy, so he was very polite and gave Hopkins unmerited praise by saying it was "one of my toughest yeah". He didn't volunteer the comment; it was carefully asked of him, the crafted words were basically "put into his mouth" by little Maxie, and he gracefully agreed. Don't forget it was all about giving Golden Boy a "boost".

At the same time, I thought Calzaghe didn't fight nearly as well as I've seen him do, and Hopkins performed far better than he usually does. But, he was finished after the 4-5th round and went into survival mode, as we all saw, even habitually hitting after the break- and after the bell, when he got the opportunity.

the one genuine low blow was a side-slap and couldn't have bothered him at all. He should join the Actors Guild. And he made such a phony baloney of the "phantom punch" supposed low blow, that I thought he was on the verge of quitting. This was late in the fight of course and he really was played out. A good fight by a delusional 43 year old.

Exactly!!! Hopkins did prove nothing new. The same as always, try to bury your opponent and hit a few rights. For me he's not great!!! Some1 like Roy Jones, if he would have had a style, like running away from opponents, do you think somebody would catch him??? I mean that's all what Hopkins is, he's a Fall of Famer because of his title reign!!!

But Hopkins otherwise as stated, do proved something new to me... and I'm not sure what it is, I have 2 oponions on it:

Either he has the biggest penis in the World and had a hard one watching Joe (Bernard seems to like white boys!!!) or he's just a big piece of **** who also conducts himself in an unsportsmanlike way. Sorry for the choice of words, but something like that is a disgrace. If you play dirty and the ref allows it ok... but if you fake a low blow to maybe get a point deduction or a break... that's simply a joke, and it's even more a joke if you think how hard (in his pants) she ehh he is.

I think from now on ppl should be really careful who they consider a joke... and if they do, they should be better not talk about Hopkins anymore... Joke

i wouldn't say it was the toughest fight off his run. But it was tough. He went the whole fight with a broken hand against robin ried. When reid was still in his prime and eubank gave him a hell of a fight. On another note max said he had been down against eubank. not true. His only knockdowns before the first round with hopkins was against byron mitchil. who he knocked out in the same rouund he was put down and against kabray samlam. witha flash knock down.

So now that joe came to the usa and won the lineal tittle in his second weight class. He should have no more haters. The sky is the limit for him. Evn if he only wants a few more fights. He has plenty of big ones to choose from. He can fight the other legend in the division other then hopkins. Which would be roy jones jr. Who has won three strait since his fall from grace. Most important a big win over trindad. Even with felix looking good in the first half of the fight. Then theres the young gun in the division chad dawson. Who may have had a tough time with glen johnson. but name me a fighter who didn't have a tough fight with glen other then hopkins. Then there's the self proclaimed legend killer antonio tarver. who looked great in beating clinton woods last week. tarver has ripped off three wins since his lost to hopkins and i still a huge name. Then there's the smaller paydays but just as tough of fights against the afore mentioned glen johnson and clinton woods( which would be a huge fight in england). If none of those fights come off then theres the WBO long time champ zolt erdei. Who has done his best calzahe impression by staying in his home country and racking up defenses of his WBO strap and preparing himself for that career defing fight. Well if joe wants the fight erdei can have his breakthrew chance.

If not joe can fight hopkins again or lure up A top suppermiddle guy or even felix trindad who showd early this year that he still has something left in the tank. So there seems to be plenty of options for joe. He said this was the toughest fight of his life. well i want to see him in tougher ones so he can prove he's not just one of the elite fighters today. he's one of the elite fighters of all time.

Calzaghe had a bad night and beat him.

Maybe a prime Hopkins (although this version is 95%) would have fought more and got knocked out who knows.

But like i said any Calzaghe beats any Hopkins.

Thats bull**** he said 'one' of his toughest, only becasue he had to chase the guy around the ring and it was in a foreign country. It was probably only becasue it was an American audience he was talking to.In terms of effort put in it was'nt even close to being his toughest

Ive give Joe props for the win , but if you guys cant see that was a very tough fight for Joe you are as blind as a bat , this is why Cal gets a lot of stick in here , because you fellas go over the top with the bull**** , he got decked then wobbled and cut while a 43yr old dont get a scratch , I really think a lot of you fellas only see your fancied fighter through tunnel vision because you never see what the other guy does .
