Calzaghe outworked him, controlled the fight, and actually landed the cleaner shots and in a much larger volume. Hopkins may have landed a few harder shots(though Joe was never hurt anyway)but Joe landed many more punches that were just as clean, including a few straight lefts right in his face.
Controlled aggressiveness, ability to adapt his style, stamina and workrate.
On many occasions he backed Hopkins into the corner and onto the ropes but Hopkins was able to tie him up or rush in with his head, which slowed Joe down. I felt Joe controlled the fight for the most part, and Hopkins had to resort to "bending the rules" - cheating basically!

Reason: adding a few bits
He got dropped once, but took Hopkins' shots after that without goin down again. He didn't get frustrated when Bernard ****ed with him and stalled the fight on the low blow calls. He didn't end up wit any cuts from headbutts. He had the energy to keep comin forward and throwin shots down the stretch.
He landed more punches per round, while bhop did mostly tying him up and thats about it. Hopkins would throw and land a few punches but Hopkins workrate was too pitiful to give this fight to him.
