Calzaghe won, but it wasn't pretty nor a defining fight. I think I'll bet the bank against Calzaghe and old man Roy Jones.

I had B-hop winning the first 7 rounds. I thought Joe was throwing alot of punches but they was'nt hitting and I thought B-hop was landin the clear punches. God Knows how the judge gave Joe winning by 5 rounds. I don't think Joe was landing til the 9th

Calzaghe though not by a huge margin. It wasn't a pretty win, but I think he edged it out. Hopkins just didn't do much of anything. You have one guy coming forward throwing punches and the other guy moving, moving, moving, holding and throwing the odd punch for the first half. He did land cleaner shots, but the workrate just wasn't there. I'd say from round4 on, Calzaghe started getting his act together and was figuring out a way to win by smothering Bernard. The really telling thing to me was that Hopkins was looking very uncomfortable and was getting lured into all of those awkward flurry exchanges that favoured Calzaghe. Calzaghe made the fight just as ugly as Bernard because he knew if he sat mid-range and flurried he'd get countered. He'd rush in with smothering shots, hold and punch in the clinch. Eventually, it got to Bernard because he definitely wanted a breather when he exaggerated that low blow. He was trying to do the same later on. Bernard looked tired and uncomfortable, and I've never seen him look that way against anyone, not even Taylor. Close fight, but Calzaghe won a sloppy mess of a fight. Neither guy showed a lot of class, and both looked pretty frustrated in the ring and disappointed with their performance.

His dad was scared he would get robbed and he did by one judge. ****** way to a judge a fight anyway. I'm American which doesn't matter anyway and I saw Hopkins get outclassed, even the knockdown was a close round.

LOL at Hopkins taking it up the ass after the body shot knockdown. Probably brought back memories from his hardcore days in prison.Originally posted by Thunder Lips View PostNot one of Calzaghe's greatest performances but that is what Hopkins does, he held and made it ugly; he survived and protected himself but that didn't win the damn fight. Joe still cearly won every round after 3 and arguing for Hopkins is insane. He landed very cleanly and more frequently and was in obvious control by the second half. You can dwell on the early knockdown where Joe was up quickly and didn't appear hurt all you want but surviving? It is a good thing he fought an old Hopkins, because if the fight were 6-8 years ago he would have had NO SHOT....
