Looking at body language it's hard to see how Joe could appear more confident. Seriously.

Forget about what happens in the fight. Joe Calzaghe definetely thinks he is going to smash Hopkins face in. It's abundantly clear.

Hopkins sneered at him, he smiles at him, moved his shoulders whilst looking in his eyes AND Hopkins talked first and moved away first. It's going to be hard for the B-Hops psychoanalytic to claim any kind of moral victory there.

i didn't see the staredown but what does it matter?

since when did the staredown ever predict anything?

psycho games are all part of the sport and they do affect the outcome at times but how do you know when those head games worked at the staredown? you don't. if bernard's games has affect on joe it'll show up at the fight and not 'til then. if joe fights differently then you can say maybe (big maybe) bernard got in his head.

looking at how fighters act during a weigh in or staredown doesn't mean anything. i've seen so many staredowns where one guys looks so intimidating and the other guy looked like he was about to **** his pants and when the fight starts the guy that looks scared beats the intimidating guy from pillar to post.

just to let everyone know i'm neutral. i'm an american but i think joe will (should) win. i admire bernard's longevity and he's a legend but i don't like his fighting style or his antics. i like joe's skills and the lacy fight impressed me very much but i'm still wary of his light resume and what i deem a well protected and padded career. i defend both when i see fit and at the same time i make fun of both when i feel like making a joke or talk bull about either.
i think joe will win a close fight but i think bernard will make it his type of fight.

i'm straight down the middle on this one.

The executioner clearly won the stare down he looked by far the better conditioned out of the two and I could see the fear in Joes eyes. Then at the stare down the nervous Joe was trying to smile and look 'tough' This only lasted a few seconds until he pussied out and ran away from Hopkins.
