Berto is fighting in June. Is that soon enough? Fans want him moved quickly, but he is still young and HBO is willing to wait for him to develop. Everyone wants to see him thrown into the fire right now. Luckily for him the people that look after his career want him to be successful when he takes that step.

Clottey at this stage may prove to be too much for Berto. Although Berto has all the talent you look for in a boxer I just question if he could hold up to non stop pressure like Clottey, Margarito Or Cotto would do. Then again Clottey is one of my favs and I think he could hold up/beat anyone in the division.

Berto-Clottey should happen. Thats a decent challenge for the young star. joel julio would make a slugfest.

berto is being very careful, he is in a tight division, and he is sneaking up there in the top 10 rank

Berto is a good boxer/puncher but he seems to get hit far too much with less caliber fighters without any pop in their guns. If he goes up against a beast his beard will be tested and I think if he goes up against a Clottey, Margarito, hell even Cintron it might be too big of a jump at this point in his career. I mean lets face it how do you go from David Estrada who is a tough SOB but not technically sound and without extreme power to the top guys...it's a stretch even for the talented Berto. Will he pass the test...it's possible but you have to learn from every fight and if you jump into prize fighting you missed out on all the fundamentals of building yourself up. That is why all the fighters in Arum's stable are good fighters even those that left him (Floyd, Oscar). They were carefully matched carefully and not hurried. But let's look at someone like Vargas and David Reid...completely hurried in their careers and they no longer are boxing. So if you guys want Berto to be the future don't put him on the fast track because once you get there, there is no turning back.

His management team is worried about his chin and defense. Even when he steps up after his next fight, I expect it to be against a lighter puncher.

It's a shame too because this guy has got some special talent offensively. Maybe it's just early bumps, maybe he can fine tune some things. We'll see.
